Tuscany in central Italy is renowned for its beauty, hillsides blanketed in olive groves and vineyards and stunning cities like Florence and Pisa. What the region is less known for are its golf courses which are quite superb.
The majority of golf courses in Tuscany sit as part of a golf resort, but there are some courses in the region such as Ugolino and Le Pavoniere that do not have a hotel on-site, but don’t worry, you can still get to these courses from the aforementioned golf resorts within a short drive. Probably the most famous course in the region is Poggio dei Medici. Just 25 minutes from Florence and 75 minutes from Pisa Airport, the UNA Poggio dei Medici Hotel sits amongst undulating hills offering panoramic views across the rugged landscape and the beautiful golf course that surrounds it.
Other golf resorts in the region worth mentioning are Argentario Golf Resort & Spa, Toscana Resort Castelfalfi, La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort Siena and Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort.
In addition to the beautiful landscape and the golfing gems, Tuscany’s cities embody both class. Florence itself is the world capital of Renaissance art, Siena is famous for its Gothic architecture, and Pisa is about much more than just its Leaning Tower (although you still have to see it once in a lifetime), while the hill-top village of San Gimignano affords a view of Tuscany’s true charm from above. Tuscany will provide a golf holiday that will live long in the memory.
