The Costa de Almeria is tucked away in Spain’s south-eastern corner between the Costa Blanca region (famous for La Manga and the Nicklaus Trail) and the Costa del Sol (one of the most famous golfing regions in Europe).
Despite being known as Spain’s sunniest region, it is relatively undiscovered as a holiday destination. It means golden beaches and rugged scenery, in addition to quiet fairways and peaceful hotels are yours for the taking, and there are plenty of hilltop villages where you can get a taste of old school Spanish life.
The fantastic golf resorts at Valle del Este and Almerimar are our most popular retreats in the Costa de Almeria, due to the superb accommodation, challenging golf courses on-site and amazing value they offer, but other golf courses such as Alboran and Playa Serena are nearby if you want to explore the region’s courses a little.
Away from the fairways, there is plenty to explore including the palm-lined plazas and Arab fortress in Almeria, the Cabo de Gata flamingo national park and the beautiful city of Granada is within daytripping distance as well.
