The Costa Azul is Portugal’s hidden gem. For those in golfing circles will need no introduction into the quantity of high calibre golf courses in this region just south of Lisbon, with big-name designers having produced some of the best golf in Portugal.
The 36-hole resort at Aroeira has long been a favourite of golfing groups who visit this region thanks to the value of the play & stay packages on offer. European Top 100 courses at Quinta do Peru and Ribagolfe are both worth visiting with fantastic designs and where an emphasis on straight driving is required, or if you want something a little more rugged and linksy, Troia can be accessed by a short ferry crossing from Setubal creating a day out that will live long in the memory.

Towns such as Sesimbra and Setubal offer a wide selection of restaurants and nightlife, but if you want action and nightclubs, head to the capital where there are plenty of cultural activities on offer as well. Away from the fairways, you can head to one of the many fantastic beaches in the region, try wine tasting in the Alentejo and Muscatel regions, explore the sights that are on offer in the city centre or grab a train out to Cascais where there are a number of other high quality golf courses on offer such as Oitavos Dunes and Quinta da Marinha.
