Overview
A page of golf was written here, less than 2 miles from the “city of granite”. Royal Aberdeen originated in 1780, was the world’s 6th golf club and the first to adopt the 5 minute rule when looking for your ball. You probably won’t lose yours as long as you play “Balgownie” carefully, avoid the bushes and tall grass and, in a word, stay in the fairway. You’ll probably have a tougher time distinguishing some of the fairways amongst the dunes, avoiding the 10 bunkers on the 8th hole, keeping a solid swing when the wind blows a little too hard, or remembering to turn around at the 9th, as the holes that naturally continue belong to Murcar.
Originally designed by Robert and Archie Simpson from Carnoustie, it was altered by Braid and today Donald Steel is the club’s consultant. A little off the beaten golf-trotter track, this is one of the great classics for every links-collectors, fun to come back to every time.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
