Overview
This is one the region’s great parkland courses and in 1997 treated itself to an impressively sized and much-needed new club house. Between plateaus and valleys, you are confronted with a lot of trees, particularly on the 16th which you have to hit over in order to reach the green. Elsewhere they are rarely in play, except for slicers. The other hazards are the heather and the many large bunkers.
Once again, a good score here means you really did play well. You may be likely once but rarely twice. Because of the technical challenge here, inexperienced players can expect to sweat a little thus making stableford, match-play or a scramble game a perhaps more enjoyable option. This is indeed an excellent course for match-play golf, the design bearing testimony to the not-too-distant day and age when match-play was the formula used by all amateur golfers. The general excellence of green-keeping makes a visit here something we would eagerly recommend, despite the proximity of some pretty good links course.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
