Overview
Located in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve with spectacular views across the Algarve coastline, Pinheiros Altos is the most recent addition to the Quinta do Lago estate and is situated just a few minutes from the four-star Formosa Park Apartment Hotel and the luxurious five-star Dona Filipa Hotel.
Designed by Ronald Fream and Jorge Santana, the course is made up of three loops of nine holes: ‘The Pines’, ‘The Corks’ and ‘The Olives’. The Pines, as its name suggests winds its way through pine forests and down towards the water hazards that are ready to welcome you towards the end of the course. This course demands more accuracy and precise play than the other 18 holes at Pinheiros Altos, but this in no way means it is less enjoyable. The Corks and The Olives are a much more open affair where there is a little more room to open your shoulders and swing freely. On a flatter part of the golf resort, the holes work their way through a series of lakes and cork trees to find some of the most difficult greens to read in the Algarve.
The course embraces part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park in the actual course, making this another course of beauty and challenge for players of all standards.
Location
For over 60 years, the Algarve has been synonymous with golf holidays in Europe. Since the Penina Hotel was introduced to the locals of Portimao in 1966, the growth of golf along the Algarve coast has been incessant with many famed courses being built such as Quinta do Lago’s trio of courses, Vilamoura’s handful of top tracks, Pestana’s fantastic four around Alvor and more recently the two signature courses at Amendoeira.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
