Overview
The Penina Hotel and Golf Resort is synonymous with golf holidays in Portugal. The Algarve’s favourite and most famous golf hotel has never been more popular and this is thanks no end to the quality of the golf courses on-site.
The famous Henry Cotton designed Penina Championship course is the oldest golf course on the Algarve and has been home on numerous occasions to the Portuguese Open. Running through the Eucalyptus forests and clumps of palm trees around this large golfing complex, the course is extremely well maintained and provides a great test for golfers of all abilities, especially with the numerous hazards and elevated greens that are ready to catch out even the most accomplished of golfers. This is a good course to walk as it is quite flat, but be careful when negotiating your way round – the course is quite tight and you will need to place your ball in the right areas if you are to score well.
If you want to hone your skills, take advantage of the free daily golf on the Academy and Resort courses, the perfect way to waste away the twilight hours before dinner. Penina Hotel & Golf Resort certainly lives up to its reputation as one of the best golf resorts in Portugal.

For over 60 years, the Algarve has been synonymous with golf holidays in Europe. Since the Penina Hotel was introduced to the locals of Portimao in 1966, the growth of golf along the Algarve coast has been incessant with many famed courses being built such as Quinta do Lago’s trio of courses, Vilamoura’s handful of top tracks, Pestana’s fantastic four around Alvor and more recently the two signature courses at Amendoeira.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
