Overview
Founded in 1890 by English golfers living at the Oporto, the Oporto Golf Club is the oldest golf club in the entire Iberian Peninsula and one of the oldest golf courses in continental Europe. The club was first named Oporto Niblicks, originating from the niblick golf club that was used in direct consequence of the course that was almost entirely of sand.
Located only 17 kilometres to the south of the town of Porto it is within convenient reach from this busy commercial city.
The course with its tight fairways puts a heavy reliance on accurate shots from the tee and thanks to the course’s shorter distance (by modern day standards) allows for irons to be used rather than the driver. The two most challenging holes are the 4th and the 11th. The latter is a long par-5 and some 544 yards long…Not a hole you can reach in two.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
