Overview
It was the superb hotel of the same name that added this 18 hole course to its estate. The owners love the end result, quite rightly so, and have they have sensitively developed magnificent historical manor. They wanted a course that was playable by all, always an extremely difficult task but one that Johnathan Gaunt managed to achieve. This is a fair course that you can get to grips with right away, as the thick rough and rather frequent hazards.
Only two holes really call for high pitching shots, and even then the distances involved are short. However the constant presence of water might scare off the higher-handicappers. Despite the course’s relatively tender age, green-keeping is excellent on a site where everything has been done so very professionally. Pleasant to play, challenging from the back tees and set in a very peaceful part of the country where there is a lot do and see.

England’s North-East is home to some of the best golf resorts in the country. The golf courses, accommodation and facilities make the North East a superb destination for golf break packages. Established golfing venues like QHotels’ Slaley Hall and QHotels’ Forest Pines have hosted major professional tournaments such as the European Seniors Tour.
