Overview
Hawtree & Sons were contracted in 1999 to redesign an existing nine holes into a new course for the new Millennium in the famous golfing retreat of Vilamoura. The renowned UK architects took on the challenge and created the beautiful and exciting 18-hole Vilamoura Millennium Golf Course. Refurbishment to the existing nine began immediately and included effectively starting again on the greens, tees and bunkers. The only thing that remained of the old North Course was the layout and then when this joined the new 9-hole loop, a stimulating course with a completely different character emerged to the remaining Laguna Course which sits alongside Millennium.
The two nines of the Vilamoura Millennium Course complement each other handsomely and have strong traits of Martin Hawtree’s traditional architectural style. There is a fantastic clubhouse on-site that accommodates visitors of both Millennium and Laguna golf courses with a brilliant restaurant, large bar, a well-stocked pro-shop and a lovely terrace to relax on before or after your 18 holes. The terrain is partially open; similar to that of the original 27 holes, whereas the remainder meanders through attractive pine trees so the fairways tend to be narrow, placing a premium on accurate play.

Since the Penina Hotel was introduced to the locals of Portimao in 1966, the growth of golf along the Algarve coast has been incessant with many famed courses being built such as Quinta do Lago’s trio of courses, Vilamoura’s handful of top tracks, Pestana’s fantastic four around Alvor and more recently the two signature courses at Amendoeira.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
