Hidden away in the hills above the Eastern Algarve, just a short drive from the Spanish border, the relatively new Castro Marim Golf Course is part of a truly magnificent tourist development, designed to provide unforgettable moments of relaxation.
Having opened in 2000, Castro Marim Golf & Country Club now offers visiting golfers the breathtaking landscape of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, the Atlantic Ocean and the River Guadiana. Course architects have made use of the natural undulations of the hills and tiny lakes and streams that surround the area to create a memorable and inviting golf resort, an area that until now hadn’t been used for golfing infrastructure.
Like many of the other courses in the region, the fairways use Bermuda grass whilst the greens are made with the new Penn A4 grass ensuring year-round high quality surfaces and playability. The Castro Marim Golf Course has been designed to give pleasure to any level of golfer. The challenging aspects of the course, whilst providing interest to the expert, are also a test to the ability of the average handicap golfer and yet remain pleasurable to both.
Its proximity to the Quinta da Ria Resort, Benamor, Monte Rei and Quinta do Vale has meant that there is now a high-calibre golfing region to rival the established destinations of Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago.
Location
For over 60 years, the Algarve has been synonymous with golf holidays in Europe. Since the Penina Hotel was introduced to the locals of Portimao in 1966, the growth of golf along the Algarve coast has been incessant with many famed courses being built such as Quinta do Lago’s trio of courses, Vilamoura’s handful of top tracks, Pestana’s fantastic four around Alvor and more recently the two signature courses at Amendoeira.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
