Overview
Before designing Druid’s Glen, Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock gave Dublin one of its best inland courses, at the expense of significant earthwork, as the former farming land was singularly lacking in geographical relief.
They evidently have champion golfers in mind but didn’t forget the average amateur player either. Yet despite the many different tee-off areas, they haven’t really managed to make it easy. Many of the greens are very well guarded and the style of golf is more American than British, meaning a lot of lofted iron shots, long and short. There are a few memorable holes, like the 8th or 12th, two real par 5s reachable only in three, and the 7th and 18th, two grand par 4s. These are all holes where water lurks dangerously. Elsewhere, the bunkers are comparatively flat and so don’t set too many problems, even for players who have an aversion to sand.
Location
