Overview
Mere was revived in 1985 by the Boler family when the club-house was completely overhauled and a building fitted out for seminars and weddings. Out on the course, an extensive tree-planting programme has begun, new tee-boxes designed and a new green laid on the 18th hole. The face-lift carried out by ground staff has modernised the original design by Braid and Duncan – you might not like the water hazards on the 7th and 8th holes – and generally enhanced the site with a more challenging finish to the course.
Some rolling landscapes adds a little variety to the layout where there is a pleasant mix of tight and wider holes. Putting and approach shots can be a tricky business on some of the multi-tiered greens. Your best bet here is to pitch onto the greens rather than roll the ball. This is one of the most accomplished courses in the region south of Manchester, a fair test and always a pleasure to play, but only on weekdays for visitors.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
