Overview
Nestled amongst the beautiful lakes of Killarney lies the three unique Championship courses of Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. The 7,252-yard Killeen Golf course has stunning lake and mountain views and has played host to the Curtis Cup in 1996 and the Irish Open on several occasions.
The lake views on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes are second-to-none and the spectacular par 3 on the 10th virtually plays onto the lake. The Par 72 Mahony’s Point Course boasts incredible views of the famous Killarney lakes overlooked by the McGillicuddy Reeks, the highest mountain range in Ireland. The views of the lake are particularly stunning on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd holes as well as the 16th, 17th and 18th. The 18th hole is one of the most photographed in the world and is known as ‘Heaven’s Reflex’. A par three of nearly 200 yards, the 18th hole requires a huge carry across the corner of the lake.
The Mahony’s Point Course has hosted the Irish Ladies Open Championship in 2003 and the Irish Ryder Cup Challenge in 2006. The fantastic Donald Steel-designed Lackabane Course is the newest of the three courses at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. Lakes and streams are a prominent feature throughout the course adding beauty and danger in equal measure. The course is suited to mid to low handicap golfers and is an excellent test of the long game where good shots and careful thinking are rewarded. The course played host to the Irish Ladies Open Championship in 2002 and the Ryder Cup Challenge Tour event in 2005.
