Overview
Son Vida is the oldest golf course of Mallorca, opened in 1964, and has a legendary status among the players from all over Europe. Its fairways run through mature trees on the prestigious estate of Son Vida, with spectacular views over the Bay of Palma.
The technical design of the course, the speed of the greens and the many hazards require an intelligent golfing strategy to score well. Son Vida often looks very tight from the tee but the fairways open out to reach a fair width. The main hazards are the greenside bunkers, a few water hazards on the closing holes and the pine, palm and almond trees.
Hawtree made good use of hilly terrain to shape the course, he designed tricky greens which are not very large and are slightly elevated and included several doglegs, giving golfers the opportunity to take risks and try and cut the corners.
Son Vida has hosted two European Tour events; the Balearic Open won by Seve Ballesteros and Barry Lane.
Location
Mallorca is the only one of the Balearic Islands to have embraced golf with 20 golf courses, a range of excellent accommodation, easy access with plenty of flights to Palma and a great climate.
The golf courses are concentrated in three main areas; there are 13 courses around Palma bay and the South-west of the island, two in the far north and five in the east. Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
