Overview
The La Cala Resort is the biggest golf resort in the region with three 18-hole golf courses, an academy, hotel and an extensive range of facilities. It is one of the most popular resorts for our clients as you have the choice to arrive and not leave the complex for your entire stay, yet the busy coastal resorts are nearby if needed.
The three golf courses, all designed by Cabell Robinson, are named the America, Europa and Asia and each have different characteristics. The America course is longer, has wider fairways and elevated greens. The par fives are reachable in two if you hit long – in short, a typical American design.
The Asia course is the oldest and the most respected. It is narrow and short, with five par threes demanding skill and strategy. It requires careful planning and straight drives along with good putting on the quick greens.
The Europa course is a little easier with generous fairways, less hilly terrain and larger greens than the America and Asia courses. It traverses the Riven Ojen and has several other water hazards to navigate. It requires good approach shots to take the greenside bunkers out of play.
Overall an excellent resort. Either stay on-site and enjoy your home courses over a few days or stay in Marbella or Fuengirola and make the short drive to La Cala and play as a visitor, either way you’ll have a great time.
Location
The Costa del Sol has long been synonymous with golf and is known as the Costa del Golf with over 70 golf courses along the Mediterranean coastline between the golden sandy beaches and the mountains behind. The majority of the best golf courses are located between Malaga and Gibraltar – the two main airports serving the Costa del Sol.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the ‘Request a Quote’ box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It’s a simple as that!
