Overview
Founded in 1817 by some members of the St. Andrews Society of Golfers (later to become the Royal and Ancient Golf Club), Scotscraig Golfing Club offers over 200 years of golfing legend, and the chance to play at one of the game’s most pivotal and historic courses.
The course today still represents true golfing history, being originally laid out by Davie Robertson (Champion Golfer 1830-1835) and later refined by Old Tom Morris and James Braid.
A six-time Open Championship Final Qualifying venue from 1984 to 2001, a qualifying site for the 2018 Senior Open Championship and host of the 2023 & 2025 Scottish PGA Championship; the championship layout has tested world-class professionals on the same fairways available to visiting golfers.
The 1923 layout, which was retained through a faithful 2017 bunker restoration, offers the architectural curiosity of the fourth hole's knoll green, large rolling putting surfaces and fairways squeezed by gorse that demand thoughtful strategy and accuracy.
With unrivalled lineage, Scotscraig is a genuine historical heavyweight, it carries undisputable Open Qualifying credentials, and it sits within 20 minutes of the Old Course, making it the most natural inclusion to any St Andrews-based trip. For any golfer planning a Fife or Angus golf holiday, Scotscraig is comparable to any Scottish links course, offering a fair but demanding test and a course that plays firm and fast when conditions allow.

Once you have found the destination, hotel and golf courses that you would like to play, either fill in the 'Request a Quote' box or call us on 01371 483444. We will get back to you with a quotation by email. If this is to your approval call us so that we can run through your preferred itinerary and fine tune the details, we will then make the reservations and send you a confirmed itinerary. To secure the booking we will require a deposit of £50 per person with the balance payable eight weeks before you travel. It's a simple as that!
